Jeremy Porter - Student and Families Pastor
Jeremy came to Immanuel in May 2003 to serve as the Student Ministry Associate with middle-schoolers in IBC’s student ministry. In January, 2005, he became the Minister to Students and Families. Jeremy had been involved with student ministry for six years prior to this in different churches. His passion for Jesus and students shows itself through the relationships he forms with students, parents, and adult volunteers. His desire is to take the love God has given him and share that with students and families so they can find a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jeremy is originally from Henderson, KY. While earning his bachelor’s degree, he met and married Karissa Krahwinkel from Owensboro, KY. Jeremy graduated from the University of Kentucky in May 2003 with his B.A. degree in Anthropology. He is currently attending Southern Seminary in Louisville where he is pursuing his master’s degree in Missiology (the study of missions). Karissa has her master’s degree from UK in Teaching English as a Second Language. She currently works at Kentucky Refugee Ministries as the Youth Services Coordinator.
Jeremy’s vision for the ministry is to connect students and families to the church body and to each other so that they can grow together in Christ’s love and grace and in turn share that with the world around them. His greatest joy is living in relationship with others in order to connect with the relevancy of the gospel in their daily lives.
